Howdy yall. WitherKing100 here now under the alias of TheSovietGoat. Idk why im steve but i am steve and i dont like it. Been playin on the server for about the past 4 days. Havent really played it too much before then. Mustve even been a year at least since i last played. New rating system is different but nice. Still an iron so thats nice too. Anyway, just gonna quickly go over all the stuff thats currently a little silly. I will simply state the map the problem is on and then give an easy explanation of the problem.

1. Highrise
The spawns on Highrise on the Red team are a bit goofy. At times when you land on the highest stone platforms in the flag room, you glitch through them onto the stone floors below.

2. Valentine
In the deathbox there are holes for you to walk out of the heart. Doing this sets you back into the middle of the deathbox and restarts your 15 second timer of respawn. New players might never even figure this out and just get upset from not being able to play the game.

3. Picnic
Similar situation as Valentine but it involves the pool in the deathbox. Once you step into the pool it sends you back into the deathbox and restarts your timer. No bueno for the new people.

4. Pro server
Map rotation currently consists of like 7 maps. Most of the time players will vote on the same 3 maps in a row. Side note- if cracked is voted and oskis is on, youre doomed. Beginner server seems to have no observable problems with the map rotations.

5. Helmets
Ive especially experienced this on the pro server but on some maps after a few minutes, all player's helmets will disappear completely. They do eventually come back I think but I have not paid enough attention to the issue to see if they do come back and if so, when.

6. Now these are just ideas for the server. I dont expect any changes but these are just random things I think that could potentially improve the server.

a- less messages on the pro server.
too many pop-ups constantly and saying stuff like 'HEY, YOURE ON THE PRO SERVER' Gets real annoying

b- reduce pp cost of kits
most veteran players already have all the kits and completely dominate the new players. Plus at one point the amount of pp you get was nerfed i believe. Bringing the cost of pp of kits down will help new players be able to... idk the best word for it. Advance? maybe.

c- automated messages for the new players
Most people dont even recognize when a new player or someone relatively new joins, except for oskis. Messages such as 'Welcome to MCBall' would be nice for the new players. A further extent would be whenever a staff or veteran player joins in, a /msg would be sent to a new player saying 'if you have any questions, please feel free to ask BLANK'. Both of these would help make new players feel more welcome.

d- the maps
Maybe im not on forums enough to know whats going on but im pretty sure at one point mcball had more than just 10 maps. In one session, you could easily play through every map in the game. We should bring back some of the old maps. For the veterans itll be nostalgic but for the new players it could possibly get too confusing knowing which map is which. Most dont even know they can /vote. I also could go on into somewhat of a rant about the current maps but Im not gonna start dissing the build team. Yall have been doing a good job considering most members of the build team are never active and i know that the active ones are constantly working on maps. Almost daily even.

e- deathbox respawn timer.
To me it can seem a bit too long at times. If an enemy gets the flag and kills you. Its basically a free capture. Plus maybe even new players may even get too annoyed by not being able to play the game even more.

f- removing maps
I just dont like Winter Wonderland. Its annoying and hard to see everything with everything being white and tall giant white pillars everywhere

g- the damn grass
Lots of grass everywhere on almost every map that just becomes an annoyance when players just start hiding behind grass and no one can even touch them.

Thus ends kinda everything. Besides the current issues that I think should be fixed, there are things we could do to help make the new players feel welcome and stick around more.
Thanks.

Thanks for this thread. We are aware of most of these issues. As I am not a developer, I can not make official statements about this, so take it with a bit of a grain of salt.

As I type this, I am fixing valentine and picnic. They should now be fixed (there is also no hole in jumanjis deathbox as well). The deathbox on picnic probably end up being changed soon. It's just temporary. But for now the water can't be reached.

On the subject of map rotation (and map quantity) There is currently an issue stopping maps from being loaded. Or more accurately, it is preventing them from rotating back in after they have been once? There is meant to be a much greater amount of maps on rotation than are currently visible. It would appear as though this issue is not effecting the beginner server. I believe the issue has been identified, and it being worked on. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. But I hear you, the same three maps are certainly getting old.

On grass. I also agree, I think a lot of the build team (including myself) goes for looks over gameplay when it comes to grass. We all have slowly realized recently how annoying it can get. I'm working to tone down the grass on some maps now.

As for everything I didn't mention, I also agree, and I think most of this is going to get worked on soon. :p

The pro server is meant for players who are skilled enough to be considered pro. Those "annoying" messages are not so bad when a new player is getting ruined by pros. Once you play long enough, they messages go away. Again with PPs and kits, we separated servers so beginners would play on beginner server We didn't want to force that on you so that you can still play with all, but any impactful result of skill difference is the effect of you ignoring our official advice.

Deathbox timers could be improved yes. With the Blur update we do have the ability to configure it per map, however I am not for the idea of changing timer every map.

If you want something changed or removed or added, it would be a lot better if you could provide some factual information to back up what sound like your opinions. A map won't be removed because you don't like. A map will be changed until it makes better gameplay, or removed if it doesn't work well at all.

Why don't the pro server messages only show once a game, at the beginning? Nobody plays on the beginner server because there's seldom more than ~10 people on the whole network at a time, and they're all on the pro server (Or the build server.)

I've never seen the beginner server be anything but empty. When a new player joins the server, they're going to join the one that actually has people in it, regardless of their skill. That isn't really even an issue at this time, due to the fact that the vast majority of people who get on the server to play today are people who have played in the past, and are coming back for one reason or another. Why repeatedly spam a message that everyone already knows upon joining?

At least give an option for players to toggle the messages off. That's got to be extremely simple to implement. For the people like myself who hop on once in a while when the player count hits double digits, the messages don't go away quickly at all.

Hey,

I've written a temporary solution for now. You can click on the warning to acknowledge it, which will be remembered for a day.

Some other (actually unimportant but still buggs) additions:
1) Magician: kill streak messages are wrong (this has no influence on the gameplay itself though)
2) The hub and waiting room between matches is not updated yet. (signs, top 3,...)
3) Agent: The bombs are throwable the way they supposed to be after you select them while respawning (this glitch is actually fun and not harmful so I'd even prefer it not to be fixed, but since it's still a glitch I kinda had to report it anyway) this only works in the respawn room and not in the actual match itself.
4) Killing before spawn protection runs out: You can kill people with magician and sniper before their spawn protection runs out.

We are working on many of these issues. In due time most of these items will be addressed. For example I just addressed the spawn glitching through slabs on Highrise. It is fixed now.
