Hello guys. Just wanted ya'll to be aware of it and its path. Right now its positioned towards the west coast of Florida (Where I live) Its currently a cat 5, and will likely drop down to a cat 4 when it hits Florida. Its already had record breaking wind speed . Certainly largest hurricane for a while. Right now we are prepping for evacuation. So here's a dip into my life. We were unable to get coverage on one of our houses (We have 2 in Florida). Leaving roughly around 2 million dollars invested into our house sitting with no coverage. I've asked lots of people to keep us in their prayers, right now its depressing at the fact we could lose that much. You never really think about what you're blessed with until your In the face of destruction. I'm thankful God's blessed us with a lot I know he'll keep us safe. If you want an update post here asking whats the deal. But, we just got coverage on our main house and boat this morning so THANK the lord for that. I do ask to pray for us, and the people on Florida who will be effected by this. Its totally depressing as I stated up there, to think of the damage it could cause, and how lives change over night. We are getting together with 2 other family's to voice our opinions on evacuation which is sad it has come to this.

And in these kinds of situations when its hopeless, I rely on God and what he has planned for my future and my family's.

You probably won't hear from me for weeks, and thinking that far ahead as I sit at home I wonder what we will have left. I'l probs be on discord, thanks!

Hey Woiv as you know we live in Florida also. Hopefully the storm will turn out to sea. But please make sure you get the heck out of that island you live on.

It is actually a small miracle you were able to get coverage on your house. Usually if there is a hurricane coming they don't write policies. Or they have some kind of 30 day rule. Glad you did cause if the eyewall of a cat 5 or 4 comes over your house it will be gone gone gone. So make sure you evacuate and get the heck out of there until the all clear. And don't worry about the money. You can always make more. That is the truth.

Thats true. Our island we live on isn't really cat 5 hurricane proof, lol. We are evacuating tomorrow along with a couple other families we are close to. Just packed our house with outside stuff, tied our boat down got extra gas, water, packed all my stuff I can't live without, and we're probably off. If it followed the east coast (Which isn't likely) we'll probably be mostly ok. Right now, many bets are that it goes west (where we live). So yeah, I'll keep ya'll updated. And buffo, it is supposed to rip right through florida so, yeah get ready to evacuate your self.

Anyways, got work to do in prep for hurricane Irma.

I hope and pray for everyone in Florida, if you're evacuating, good for you, if not, please be safe.

It's taking literally the same exact path Katrina did exactly 12 years later, and I live near New Orleans.. hoping it doesn't decide to go into the gulf. 12 years ago, the weather dudes said that Katrina would go into Florida, and we all know how that turned out. I also hope my sister's Florida condo holds up okay if the storm stays over there. You Florida peoples are in my prayers.

I live in Miami, Florida
Glad somebody brought this up, I was waiting for someone to talk about this. I've been watching The Weather Channel the majority of my day and didn't go to school today. There's a lot of thunder outside although the hurricane is expected to arrive (or at least bring some wind) late on Friday. Lucky for me, National Hurricane Center (NHC) shows the hurricane moving more towards the east, so hopefully, it won't get that bad. It's also said that Irma's expected to be a category 4 by the time it hits Florida.
However, if the scenario of the hurricane not moving east occurs, my house will probably not hold up. They are calling this hurricane "worse than Andrew" and Andrew absolutely wrecked us. Flattened us. That means I'm going to need to go to the hospital my mom works at for a night or two. The problem is, the hospital doesn't take pets obviously, and I have two dogs. That's where my family and I are screwed.
But, fingers crossed Irma keeps going east.
I would like to say, though, that you shouldn't trust all of the stuff that's on the news. Like, yes, the statistics are correct, but sometimes they bend the truth a bit to scare the public for their own safety. I don't know, some things they say just don't add up.
The roads are too chaotic and dangerous to even leave your house, let alone evacuate.

About your house-- I've lived in my house and only my house my whole life. My dad has been tiling it for a few months now. He has literally put his blood sweat and tears into this house, getting blisters cuts and scrapes redoing the bathrooms entirely and my whole family pitched in somehow. For example, I did the majority of the painting.
The fact that it could go down is devastating and I completely understand how you feel. The fact that it could crumble over night really does open your eyes to everything you have. But hopefully, God will listen to our prayers and let our houses, families, and loved ones be safe.

Let's all pray that southeast Florida will be okay and that Hurricane Irma will go more to the east.
Hope I helped!

My prayers are with everyone out in Florida for what is to come. I hope you all reach somewhere safe and secure and that Irma moves east. It is important to spread the word and evacuate quick before it's too late, and be safe if you decide to stay. I hope to talk to you all when you are safe and the hurricane is passed.

To be completely honest... I know Irma is a bad storm and all but the only reason it is getting so much attention and so many people are freaking out unlike any other storm before it is because I think everyone saw the outcome of Harvey and decided not to risk being unprepared. I’m not trying to say that this is a bad thing, just pointing it out.
I disagree.
Hurricane Andrew was a 1992 hurricane that flattened all of Miami, and most of eastern Florida for that matter (see picture below). It was extremely devastating and people died. They say that Hurricane Irma is worse than Andrew because it is bigger with faster winds. I believe people are acting this way because with Andrew they didn't. With Irma, now we have an idea of what we are dealing with and we can prepare better.

I could never imagine losing my entire house, where I have lived my whole life. I do truly feel so bad for all you Florida people and wish you the absolute best luck you can get! Just take it careful and be prepared for the worst, and then it might turn out much better then you thought it would!
Thank you for reading.

Reading the headlines from Hurricane Harvey was terrible. Seeing those who stayed through it and made the most out of it by accomodating needs and entertaining each other put a smile on my face. Even in all that darkness the people managed to unite and create light for each other.

If you are forced to go through Hurricane Irma I hope you make it out healthily. Please be sure to communicate with your friends and family when you're in safe zones to let them know about your current situation. And maybe MCBall too if you can :)

I wish you all the best with the next few days and weeks of your life.
