I think commando should belong in the underpowered section.
Also for frosty. The basic radius would remain but another two blocks outward from the explosion would give slowness.

Heheh...


I'm bumping this thread since this conversation has been brought up again, and when I posted this, the server was basically dead. Some of the ideas in my post are old and outdated, so I'll try and update the ideas/thoughts in a bit when I have more time.


If you have any ideas to share, please comment them and we can discuss it, and I can add it to my list of balancing ideas!

A few things I would like to comment on.

1. I am pretty sure that all shots that are shot into the vortex no matter who shoots them automatically become yours as soon as they enter the vortex. I am pretty sure this is said on one of the more recent posts on the home page.

2. I like to use the vortex kit, but I feel like it is really only use full like once a life span unless you get a good kill streak going. The reason being is that the reload takes way too long. It is like 40 seconds or something stupid like that for you to be able to reuse it. I feel like that is one of the problems that it has. Some others being that it moves too slow and has that weak gravity pull. Although these are all negatives, this kit is still very strong as a defensive kit, when you are sure of death, but are able to launch the vortex bomb so you redirect the balls that were going to hit you.

3. The suggested fix for magician is a bad idea for anyone who is familiar when playing with the kit. Hitting someone on a pig is already somewhat difficult already, so how would the pig running around make it any easier for the person trying to kill you on the pig? That does not make any sense at all. The things that I think to make magician better would be for it to move faster, have a larger radius, and a shorter reload.

4. The last thing I want to comment on is shotty. Right now it is in the Solid Kits section, no change needed, but right now nobody uses it at all, so I would disagree that it is a good kit. If it were possible I would say that when you use the shotgun, to have the paintballs shoot faster than the speed that they already go at. The reason why I say this is because whenever you are using shotty, most of the time you use it is in a close combat situation and you are already getting shot at. By the time you take the shot with it, you are already dead because it takes so long for the paintballs to move. I feel like upping the speed will make the shotgun more effective because that is what shotguns are supposed to do.

5. I lied, just read some more and found another thing to disagree with. The possible fix for Spider is to have the webs go vertically when they hit the wall. I do not see how this would be even remotely useful in any situations so I do not think that makes any sense to do. I'm not going to say that spider is really good, but I do not think this is a way that can make spider better.

Agreed! I think that the reload should be a bit faster.

Vortex is really OP in close quarters, but the downside to the kit, and what keeps it fairly balanced is that it only works up close. I still stand by my thoughts that it's hard to find a use for this kit, since it's so limited to close range. I think if it moved a bit faster, (not a lot), it would be a bit better overall.

Also agree! I used to love using shotty, but I've been trying to use it recently and the shots move so slow, that the other player can hit you before your shots reach them. Not sure if they are actually slower than a standard shot, but from my personal experience, it's more reliable to just not use shotty at all.

I think speeding them up is a really good idea! Thanks for that!

Hmm, yeah. I agree with that. Not sure how it would make it better. Actually, I kind of think it would make it worse, because you couldn't trap people who were in the air that way. (like if they fell off the side of the chest in bedroom or something)

Would you mind elaborating on this idea Mining_Shark ? I'd like to know your thoughts on it.

I've thought about this too, but the problem is, is that frosty is meant to do the same thing. Make it so that the player is disoriented and can't really shoot you. I think doing this to magician would replace frosty. Right now, if you throw a frosty bomb, and freeze someone, there is still a decent chance of them hitting you, if they were aiming at you before the frosty bomb is thrown. If you make it so the pig spins around, there would be almost no way a player could hit the magician user. As much as I would love for magician to be this OP, I think it would be too unbalanced.

Honestly Agent used to be a decent kit that was used fairly often (at least by me.) I'm 99% sure it can be fixed by enabling the flash bangs to be thrown, and if it hits someone they will die. It works exactly like the frosty kit but it blinds them instead. (Same Killstreaks.) Also since the coding is already there the kit should just keep the ability to put the flash bombs down like it is now.

I Agree %100 with everything here :). Kit balancing is a great idea and needs to be done at some point.

Prot does require skill because u have to actaully hit someone and prot isnt that hard to kill
The problem is, is that it requires very MINIMUM skill. So, unlike most of the other kits, it doesn't require you to aim, or shoot, etc. It basically gives you an extra life if you are hit once.
