Protection Usage Of MCBall Players

Hi guys I want to talk about the usage of players with protection.
Don't take it personally if I name you in this post.






Phools.
Why does Phools need protection?
He hits like a truck…
Hes a diamond helmet and way to skilled for it.


Guys that is the only name add a name and I'll talk about them later.
Tell me about them.
Now here is a thing vote on this poll if you think protection should be gone.
Well I know that Phools is still gonna use protection no matter what!
If it goes he'll be mad as that he'll use his diamond helmet!

ANYWAYS, back on topic. I like protection because it's different than the other kits. I mean think about it, all of the other kits have gadgets and guns while protection has armor. Armour and guns together is op, but when you seperate them they aren't really. To me, it's just like all the other kits. It could be nerfed, that could be a solution to this protection stuff that's happened since... forever. Like some people have suggested, change it to a shield rather than a vest.

Since the last threads about Protection we staff have always been trying to find a way to nerf the kit without making is useless. All suggestions are welcome but there's no point telling us to remove it because that will not happen as nerfing a kit does not mean removing it.

Honestly, I think the posts about Protection are getting a bit annoying, but I think that should be a sign toward staff. I do like the idea of giving lower ranked players access to the kit where the higher ranks don't, but that just seems too unfair. Maybe nerf people with Iron+ helms but don't eliminate the kit completely. Protection doesn't make me angry, unless there are hypocrites saying that they hate prot noobs but five minutes later, they are using Protection. I like the idea of getting rid of the regen nerf, but I'm not staff, so my opinion doesn't matter. :p

Since everyone else seems to be chiming in, and I honestly have nothing better to do, I think I'll give my ten cents(my two cents is free-Eminem, Without Me) on the topic.

In theory, the staff have actually been more active recently(I have seen them on more then anyone else) so they can actually do something about this. I personally dislike protection, which is why I refuse to buy it to even have the temptation of ever using it. The problem with protection is it undermines the very basic structure of the game. If I were to describe MCBall to someone before protection was added, I would say "It is a red vs blue PVP CTF server with one-shot snowballs" I might even add "You can also select kits to help with mobility or aim"(kits like commando and shotty help with aim because they allow more pbs to be fired, and kits like frosty help mobility by restricting the enemies) The problem with protection is it changes the very core of the game. I now would have to tell people "It is a red vs blue PVP CTF server with one-shot snowballs except protection kit, which takes 2, and half of the players use it" The idea behind protection is a fine one, and staff wasn't dumb for testing it out. But when the community realized how unfair it made the game, staff should have immediately changed it. I love the idea of having a shield, and I don't think it would be overused, overpowered, or too weak either. Here's why:
1. You can still get hit around the shield
2. You cant shoot back under the shield(I don't think so)
3. The shield adds a level of skill to the kit
4. The shield isn't constantly blocking for you
5. Using the shield slows you down

Now, with all of those things in mind, it might seem that protection is very underpowered, but that can easily be compensated for. Maybe the player could gain a 2 second speed boost when the shield breaks, or the shield recharges in sets of 2 hits (Kinda like ninja hooks or almost any other kit comes in two uses)

Putting something like this onto protection would not only make the kit less OP, it would also promote playing the game AS IT IS INTENDED. I swear, whenever I played(and this was true even back in MCBall's golden age) most players didn't play to CTF. The purpose of the game is to capture the flag, not necessarily get kills. But since rank and helm was 100% based on kills, it made people want to get more kills from the start. I probably have more flag touches then players with twice as many kills as me, and probably more captures as well, because I would focus on the flag rather then farming the mid. With protection nerfed the way I suggested, it could ONLY be used to gain an advantage to get the flag (or a good position)because you couldn't shoot back. This would mean that protection would be a great strategy kit, and I could see the proposed nerfed protection being an essential part of tournament plays.

A side note though... anyone who wants protection to stay the way it is just proves that it is a nooby kit and they would suck without it... And anyone who thinks it should be totally removed is a butthurt baby. Magneto is the perfect example of why kits should be nerfed and not removed.

We could also make protection a consumable like Demo. You use it, get five seconds of protectio, if it breaks it breaks, and then a 30 second recharge. Sound good?
