We have nerfed Ricochet kit so that it is more in line with the intention of the kit and a bit less powerful. The changes are as follows:

  • The paintball bounces now reduce the speed of the paintball. We call this 'elasticity'. The base elasticity is 0.5, so the paintballs bounce off with half the speed they had before bouncing. This means that the kit has much less of an ability to bounce very long ranges without a killstreak. Notably, it is still useful to shoot at your opponents' feet so they don't try to dodge.
  • We have changed the killstreaks to the following:
    3 - Paintballs now bounce 2 times.
    5 - Elasticity increased to 0.75.
    7 - Paintballs now bounce 3 times.

We appreciate your continued patience as we test and tweak this new kit.
Thanks,
Xorgon

We have completed some more testing and determined that the low bounce power meant that the kit wasn't as enjoyable to play with and didn't allow for some of the creativity that we like to encourage. To that end we've modified how the paintball bounce elasticity is handled.
The core of this new functionality is that the bounce elasticity reduces as you use up all of your paintballs. This means that the first shot bounces strongly, and subsequent shots bounce with decreasing strength with the final shot having the least elasticity. This allows players to carefully control when they shoot to still achieve long ranges for very short periods of time, while still stopping them from spamming paintballs until the entire world is full of bounces. We hope that this allows people to come up with interesting strategies to make the most of the kit, while still balancing how powerful it is.
The actual ranges are as follows:
- Less than 5 killstreak: maximum elasticity = 0.8, minimum elasticity = 0.4
- 5 killstreak: maximum elasticity = 1.0, minimum elasticity = 0.6
(It's worth noting that the elasticity doesn't decrease linearly, so the elasticity decreases quicker at the beginning and trails off towards the minimum value as you keep shooting).

As with everything we do, we may make further adjustments in the future if we feel the balance isn't quite right, but for now this is Ricochet.
Thanks,
Xorgon

So are the kill streak buffs for 3 and 7 still the same with just 5 changing that elasticity max and min?

Correct, the only thing we've changed with this update to Ricochet is how the bounce elasticity works, which only affects the 5 killstreak.
Thanks,
